We challenged our artists: Create something new from an antler. Their answer: 15 items that will be on display at Cocoon Gallery for the month of October. All items will be available for purchase and 50% of the sales price will be donated to the Triangle Land Conservancy.
The Exhibit will open on October 2nd both in the gallery and online. I am working towards having the artists be live online with me that evening so that we may stream the items and talk with the artist about their work. At the very least, I will be on FB live, showing the items and talking about the work & the artists.
You may purchase the creation of your choice at the gallery, or via the online site. I would ask that you leave the work here for the month of October for the enjoyment of the community as well as to assist with the fundraising efforts for the Triangle Land Conservancy that we will do throughout the month.
All Antlers were donated by the family of Milton Reed, a man who had a reverence for the beauty of nature & the cycle of life. He spent his retirement days reading, hiking, mapping out the terrain near his home in Saluda, NC; chopping wood, hunting, & fishing. He predominantly ate off the land: fish, deer, squirrels, turkey. The family sought out artists to recreate these antlers as a way for Milton’s legacy to live on through a display inspired by the beauty of nature.
